Luanda – The 2010 edition of the Angolan music contest “Top dos Mais Queridos”, to be held on October 02, will honour national instrumentalists, mainly the users of Dikanza (a local traditional instrument).
The information was released Monday, in Luanda, by the coordinator of the event, Salú Gonçalves, during a press conference organized to reveal the 10 finalists of the top and other issues. “The intention is publishing, valorisation of Dikanza and praise its users”, he said.
According to Salú Gonçalves, there will be honoured those artists who use Dikanza, also known as Reco-reco, “former musicians”, such as, José de Oliveira Fontes Pereira “Malé”, Barcelô de Carvalho “Bonga”, Zé Fininho and Raúl Tolinga.
Concerning musicians of the new generation, the coordinator said that, there will be recognized artists like, Yuri da Cunha and Cláudia Andrade “Dina”.
The source said that for this edition there will be an increase on the prizes, comparing to the previous year.
“The first winner will receive USD 20,000, in contrary to USD 15,000 of the previous editions.
The second will get USD 15,000, against USD 10,000 of the last edition and the third will receive USD 5,000, more three than previous editions.
