Luanda – The Angolan Government will build 165 hotels with 50 rooms each as from 2010, seeking to meet tourism demands, Angop learned Wednesday in Luanda.
The information was released by the minister of Hotels and Tourism, Pedro Mutindi.
According to the minister, who was speaking at the ceremony of end-of- year compliments, another seven hotels will be built by private operators in 2010, which will help improve the quality and quantity of the country’s network.
Pedro Mutindi, who would not mention costs, said the project is intended to help cover the country with hotels.
The source added that in this stage and apart from the 15 hotels inaugurated in 2009, another five hotels with 183 rooms each are being built, with completion expected for the first quarter of 2010.
“During the same period, we hope to inaugurate infield training hotels with 96 rooms each”, said the official, who expressed optimism about the development of the hotel industry in Angola.
In order to speed up the process of expansion of the national hotels network, the official said, a tourism master plan is being worked out, including an inventory of the country’s tourism resources.
