Govt official considers human rights situation in Zaire Province satisfactory

Mbanza Kongo- Angola's minister Without Portfolio, António Bento Bembe, over the weekend expressed his satisfaction with the human rights situation in the northern Zaire Province, after a two-day visit to that region, ANGOP has learnt.


The government official said he hopes to see improvements in the prisons of the region, with the inauguration soon of two new penitentiaries, in Mbanza Kongo and in Soyo.


Bento Bembe on praised the effort of the local government in  improving conditions of inmates.


He also said that it is a concern the situation of national citizens coming from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as well as the illegal entrance of foreigners through the border with that neighbouring country.


Bento Bembe met with local government officials, members of the Home Affairs Ministry, organs of judicial administration, traditional and religious entities.
