Saurimo – The rehabilitation and modernisation of the airport of Saurimo, in Angola’s northeastern Lunda Sul province, that started in 2011 is estimated at Usd 70 million (Usd 1 is Akz 95,605).
The information was released over the weekend in Saurimo by the representative of the contractor company, Rui Queimada.
According to the source, a new passenger terminal is being built, including a parking ground for three Boeing 737 airplanes, a new air traffic controller tower and other minor facilities.
The official said the airport will be fully complete and operational by August this year.
He said the work is being carried out by about 40 expatriates and 120 locals workers.
