2nd phase of Namibe Port rehabilitation announced

Namibe – The Angolan minister of Transport, Augusto Tomás, Friday here announced the conclusion of the first phase of the rehabilitation and modernisation of the Namibe Port, saying preparations are underway for the start of the second phase.

 
The official was speaking at the opening of the seminar on “Happy Enterprise”.


The minister also announced the start of the project of rehabilitation of the Saco-Mar terminal.

 
Augusto Tomás said that with the support extended and projects underway, the Namibe Port will regain its role as a booster to the country’s southern region social and economic development.

 
To the minister, Namibe Port has also a relevant role to play in the neighbouring countries of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), saying the existing projects are part of the global strategy of specialisation of the ports around the country.
