Luanda to have maritime passenger terminals in 2012


Luanda – A maritime and fluvial transport system might start operating in Luanda province in 2012, with the construction of terminals for passengers at the localities of Panguila, (Cacuaco district), Luanda Port, Chicala, Mussulo, Benfica and Slavery Museum.


This was said Friday in Luanda by the minister of Transports, Augusto da Silva Tomás, during the year-end greetings ceremony.


According to the minister, studies are in progress for a maritime connection between the cities of Cabinda province and Soyo, Nzeto (Zaire province), Dande (Bengo province), Porto Amboim (Kwanza Sul), Lobito, Benguela and Namibe.


Concerning the fluvial sector, the official said his sector intends to re-launch the transportation of passengers and goods along the Luvumbo River (Kuando Kubando), connecting Kuando Kubango and the neighbouring Republic of Zambia.
