Transports in Africa considered as expensive

Luanda - The transport sector in Africa was last Wednesday considered as the most expensive ones in the world.

This was said to Angop by the AU director of Energy and Infrastructure, Aboubakari Baba-Moussa, in the ambit of the Meeting of African Ministers of Transports, which starts finished last Friday in Luanda.

Baba-Moussa said that the lack of inter-connecting road within the capital cities of the continent, the lack of railway connection among countries, less than 20 percent of the population have access to energy contribute to this fact.

He stressed that the continent has 72 000 kilometres of trans-african roads.

So, the AU official defended investment in transport infrastructure in Africa by building good roads.

AU official also said that the capacities of African ports are very weak because many of them can not receive big vessels.
