Luanda - The Angola Airlines (TAAG) Aeronautic Medicine Centre (CMA), inaugurated this year in Luanda, started its operations on Wednesday.
The information was released by the head of the company’s clinic department, António Martins Feliciano.
Speaking to Angop, the physician said that with its full functioning, the centre will be receiving the crews for routine tests, including those of cardiology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology and others.
He said the tests are intended to assess the physical and mental condition of the crews, maintenance staff and air traffic controllers and keep their records updated.
The centre, he added, is intended to respond to TAAG’s internal needs concerning medical certification of the staff, having a capacity to serve ten patients a day. Seven physicians in various specialities will secure the services.
The official said the results of the test are channelled to the authority that supervises the activity of the centre, that is the National Institute of Civil Aviation ( INAVIC), under the Transport Ministry.
The CMA, based at the Luanda Airport, was inaugurated on May 15, 2010 by the Transport minister, Augusto da Silva Tomas.
