Luanda – The minister of Transports, Augusto Tomas da Silva travelled to Soyo, province of Zaire on Friday where he will preside the act of signing a contract to purchase equipment and means for sea security.

According to the minister, who was speaking to press at the airport, it is a formal event for purchase of six speedboats and three tugboats within the programme to modernize the ports and grant maritime security that is being implemented by the Angolan Executive.

‘’The means will be based in the port of Soyo, and will also serve to prevent and protect against spills and fire at sea as well to protect our borders’’, he said.

On the occasion, the minister added that the city of Soyo was chosen because of its strategic location having a river and land border with neighbouring countries where there are several acts and abnormal situations concerning our common border.
