Revenue theft affects urban road transportation firm

Luanda – At least 30 percent of the amount paid, Akz 30,00 per trip, by more than 85.000 passengers transported daily by the urban transportation company (Macon) in Luanda is not accounted by the company, said the director of Operations and Development, Egildo Beu.


 
Speaking to Angop, the official said that the theft of values by conductors is a very common habit and has high indexes, although disciplinary action that the company has been enforcing against those involved.


 
In order to counter the financial losses, Macon has inspectors that control the circulation of  transports, using mechanisms to count the passengers, including awareness camapsigns.

 

Macon is the first private company of collectives road transportation in Luanda, with a fleet of  310 buses and 1,400 workers. Currently, the operator provides urban and inter-provincial transportation of passengers in some parts of the country.
