Taxi services to stay put - Minister

Benguela – The Angolan Transports minister, Augusto Tomás, said Thursday in central Benguela province that the fleet serving as taxis during the ongoing Orange Africa Cup of Nations (Angola2010) will continue operating after the sport event.

Speaking to Angop on the fringes of the Algeria-Egypt (0-4) semi-final match, the minister said the public will continue enjoying the taxi services.

The minister who considered as positive the service provided to local and foreign delegations that attended the event, Augusto Tomas, highlighted the job done by the rent-a-car companies that, according to him, contributed to a good response to the needs.

"I think they are responding in Cabinda, Luanda, Lubango and here in Benguela. We rate it as satisfactory because up to now the result of the execution of the programme of transportation of teams is positive”, stated the minister.

On the other hand, minister Tomas announced a Government’s national programme of urban taxi transportation of passengers.

A total of 50 taxis were released for the period of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations.
