Luanda – Luanda’s Urban Public Transport Firm (TCUL) will open in the second fortnight of January the inter-provincial route linking Luanda and Sumbe, coastal province of Kwanza Sul, while creating conditions to expand the project to other provinces of Benguela, Malanje, Huambo and Uige, said Wednesday the company's director general,
Mário Silva.
Speaking to Angop, on the company's programme for 2010, the official guaranteed the availability of about USD 2 million to implementing the project, that is to say, the opening of new points of expedition in the selected provinces and maintenance of equipment in the case of reporting breakdowns.
This is a high investment, said Mário Silva, which requires the opening of posts of expedition, whose costs are still high in Angola, in the term of real estate, accordingly with the lease agreement signed in Sumbe, estimated at USD 600/months.
He said that the company will also expand its routes to the provinces of Kwanza Norte, Zaire, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul.
TCUL will also create three bases in districts of Cacuaco (already under the implementing phase), Viana (Zango locality) and Samba (Morro Bento), in Luanda province.
TCUL has currently 479 buses.
