Macon opens new bus routes to meet CAN demand

Luanda – The public transport firm “Macon” will on the weekend open nine new bus routes that might meet around the “11 de Novembro” stadium, with view to transport citizens wishing to watch games of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations (CAN2010), ANGOP learnt this Thursday.

According to the firm's director for development and international relations, Egildo Beu, these are special routes and will be in operation during the CAN2010, in collaboration with other operators of Luanda.

Meanwhile, two new routes were opened in Camama commune, being one that begins at the cemetery with the same name until the peripheral highway and another with nine kilometres, including horizontal and vertical signalisation and public lighting, and begins at the Sapu ward in front of the stadium and ends at the highway.

The firm has 13 urban routes in the city of Luanda with 100 buses, but operates with a daily average of 80 buses. It also has inter-provincial and hiring services.

Macon, with its headquarters in Kilamba Kiaxi district, was founded on May 25, 2001, and has 1,400 employees and a fleet of 312 buses.
