Air Force chief clarifies plane accident

Luanda – Angolan Air Force (FAN) chief general Francisco Lopes Gonçalves "Hanga" clarified that the plane IL76 had gone off the runway while taking off, denying previous reports.

First information about the accident was that the airplane fell down while trying to fly over from base 1 in Luanda but the general rejected this information.

When speaking to Angop by phone, general Francisco Lopes "Hanga" said that the plane with 33 passengers and 8 crew members onboard was taking provisions to northern Cabinda province.

He added that only one person got injured and FAN created a technical commission to investigate into the cause of the crash.
