Huambo - The secretary of State for Water, Luís Filipe da Silva, will meet next week in Luanda with the heads of provincial departments of water, with a view to assessing the implementation of the initial phase of the "Water for All " project, underway since 2008 in the country.
Luís Filipe da Silva announced this on Friday at the end of his three-day visit to central Huambo province.
According to him, in addition to adjusting the activities in the current context of the country’s affairs, the meeting will enable to learn about what has been done and assess the capacity in the implementation and supervision of the works of the "Water for All” taking place in 17
provinces of Angola, except for Luanda.
He reiterated that during the 2009/2012 period, Angolan Government will continue to improve the supply of drinking water, through the construction, rehabilitation and expansion of abstraction and treatment systems.
The programme, which will be implemented until 2012, expects to benefit over two million Angolans living in rural areas and attract a yearly amount estimated at Usd 150 million.
"Water for All" includes such works as construction and rehabilitation of water systems, from rivers, lakes and elevations, installation of distribution networks and opening of water boreholes in rural areas.
Inaugurations and meetings with local members of government, also marked the visit of the secretary of State for Water to Huambo province.
