Over one million square metres cleared of landmines


Luena – More than 1.2 million square metres of secondary and tertiary roads in several localities of eastern Moxico province, are free from landmines, following demining campaign carried out in the first quarter of this year.

 

Angop learnt from a report of the provincial coordination and humanitarian aid that met on Saturday in Luena city.

 

According to the document, in this period have been removed and destroyed 117 anti-personnel and 26 anti-tank landmines and 1,163 other explosive devices.

 

The demining action was carried out by the National Institute of Demining (INAD), Demining Brigade of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), British demining group MAG and the Danish Christian Aid (DCA).
