Landmine action committee assesses activities

Ondjiva - Members belonging to the provincial Committee of Landmine Action in southern Cunene province met Friday in Ondjiva city to, assess, among other issues, the activities developed in 2008 and approve actions for the current year.

 

Presided over by the provincial coordinator of Landmine Action, Jerónimo Haleinge, the meeting also analyses the performing areas by the operators intervening in de-mining process in the region, aimed at guiding the activities carried out by the organisations in the works related to collection and destruction of landmines and explosive devices.

 

During the opening session, Jerónimo Haleingue, who is also vice-governor of Cunene for economic and social spheres, said that the committee has developed various actions, with stress to the clearance of road sections, sites for building new infrastructures, as well as of the areas to boost agro-livestock, enabling the free circulation of people and goods from the city to the field.
