Luanda – A delegation of the Angolan National Civil Protection Commission (CNPC), led by its co-ordinator Eugénio Laborinho, is attending since June 15  in Geneva, Switzerland, the global platform for disaster risk reduction.

According to a press note from CNPC made available to ANGOP on Thursday, the event, which is happening under the motto “Invest today for a safer future”, aims at updating information on the actions implemented and the main tendencies for the application of the Hyogo Framework for Action (MAF 2005-2015), of Japan.

The platform is an opportunity to assess the progress achieved in the strategy for reducing the risks of disaster since the first session held in June 2007 and mainly to increase the commitment and numerable actions to be applied in national and local plans, in MAF for the 2005/2015 period.

The Angolan delegation attended various debate sessions, in which they shared knowledge regarding the increase of investment for the reduction of risks, response capacity of the community through preventive actions, early warning systems and reducing the dangers of disasters due to climate change.
