Kuito – At least USD eleven million is the amount of money that the central government will employ in the rehabilitation of mini hydro in the municipality of Kamacupa, central Bie province, located about 87 kilometers east of Kuito.
The information was given by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Electricity Company (ENE), José Neves, following a visit of few hours that the State secretary for energy, Joaquim Ventura, made to the Bie province, where he checked the current infrastructure.
The official assured that the rehabilitation works begin soon, as the company has already received its first funding from state coffers.
José Neves stressed that the infrastructure, before being destroyed by the armed conflict, had a capacity of 1.3 megawatts, but with the new technologies that could be used the power can be about to 2 megawatts.
