Luena – The Minister of Welfare and Social Reintegration, João Baptista Kussumua, inaugurated on Friday in Luena city eastern Moxico province an elderly shelter home, with capacity to receive 156 people.
The residential complex dubbed "Rainha Nhacatolo Tchissengo" aims to guarantee the psychosocial assistance and provide greater protection to the elderlies, mainly those ones that are in family abandonment situation.
Speaking to Angop, the minister said that the initiative will contribute to the elderly’s social and economic conditions and thus retrieve the respect to people submitted to various abuses.
The construction Works of the undertaking started in 2008.
The inauguration act was witnessed by the Vice-ministers of Health, Former Combatants and Motherland Veterans, Carlos Alberto Masseca and Clemente Conjunca, respectively.
The event was also attended by Vice-governor of Moxico province, Adriana Sofia Cacuassa Bento and senior employees of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Reintegration.
