Luanda - Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva Lino, said Tuesday in Luanda that peace and development are the key and essential conditions to ensure social cohesion.
The Cabinet minister defended this at the opening of a conference on "Women and Domestic Violence," having emphasized that the unity and happiness of families is important, as basic nucleus of society.
"To this reason, the States set standards and rules of conduct in order to harmonise the relations among individuals in particular and within family in general, because the stability, health and strength of society depend on its structure and operation," stressed the official.
According to Genoveva Lino, the phenomenon of violence in recent years has taken serious and destructive proportions within families, posing imminent danger to the stability of the foundations of society.
“Meanwhile, in Angola, the law on domestic violence was approved by national assembly on 21 June, 2011 and promulgated on 14 July of the same year by President of Republic”, the official underlined.
