Luanda – The ninth edition of the Luanda International Cartoon Festival will be held on August 3-10 this year in the Angolan capital, with the participation of 30 local cartoonists and 11 foreigners.
Organised by “Olindomar Estúdio”, the event will be held on the premises of the “Instituto Camões” and “Belas Shopping”, displaying cartoons, animation movies, workshops and release of cartoon books.
Speaking to Angop on Tuesday in Luanda, Lindomar Sousa, one of the persons in charge of the “Olindomar Estudio”, said the event will also serve to show to members of the public the importance of the vote at a time the country is moving toward general elections.
Local cartoonists like Olímpio de Sousa, Lindomar de Sousa, Tché Gourguel, Horácio da Mesquita, Armando Pululu, Casimiro Pedro, King André, Pai Jota, Canoth Júnior, Altino Chindele, Ermenegildo Pimentel and Eclips will display their creations.
The list of foreign cartoonists includes Eduardo Barbier (France), Hugo Teixeira, João Mascarenhas, João Amaral, Nuno Saraiva e Teresa Pestana (Portugal), Alexandre e Adams Damas (Brazil), Makhmud Eshonkulov (Uzbekistan), Zorito
Chiwanga (Mozambique) and Jeremie Sing (DRC).
The first three editions of the Luanda Cartoon were quarterly sessions held in 2005, before the event became yearly.
