Road accident seen as everyone's problem

Luanda – The Angolan Physicians Order chairman, Carlos Pinto de Sousa, last Friday here said that road accident is an across the board problem, for which the main action should be preventive, mainly in the domain of civic education.

Speaking to ANGOP, Carlos Pinto de Sousa explained that first of all there has to be a change in mentality and behaviour from drivers and passers-by.

According to him, the participants to the roundtable meeting held in the ambit of the 6th Orthopaedic Congress of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) and the first one held in Angola left the event with the task of being activists for the change of mentality and behaviour of Angolan citizens.

The physician said he believes that within a few years road accidents will lead the statistics on death causes, due to evolution and growth of countries, namely with the improvement of roads and bridges.

“It is possible to decrease them, because it all revolves around people and their will to improve and avoid accidents (…)”, he said.
