Luanda – An awareness campaign on the evils of drugs is being conducted since Wednesday in Luanda by the Interministerial Commission on Fight Against Drugs (CILAD), Angop learned.

The event going until June 30 this year is part of the programme on the June 26, International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The campaign includes lectures in the municipalities of Cacuaco, Viana and do Kilamba Kiaxi.

Addressing the opening of the event, the Angolan deputy minister of Justice, Ana Canene, who is also the coordinator of the Interministerial Commission, called the attention of the academics to the evils of drugs and appealed to the youths to abstain from their use.

She also appealed to the citizens as a whole to participate in the fight against the use of drugs in Angola.

The Interministerial Commission was established on 21 September 2001 to coordinate the State’s policy of fight against the use of drugs and follow up the enforcement of the dispositions contained in conventions and treaties on the issue subscribed by Angola.
