Ondjiva – The Secretary of State for Housing, Joaquim Silvestre, appealed on Wednesday in Ondjiva city in the northern Cunene province to the inspection technicians in the construction of public works for greater rigour aiming to achieve their excellence and durability.

The official said so to the press at the end of his two-day visit paid to that province.

The Secretary of State said that the efforts and commitment of the local commission and technical team are visible because the works aimed at building 200 social houses in the province’s six districts are going well.

He said that the inspection works are very important because they enable to safeguard the interest of state and ensure the good work.

According to him, the inspection companies have not been complying with their responsibilities lately, and many irregularities have been recorded in the implementation of public works, and thus denoting lack of effectiveness by the inspectors in the construction works.

During his stay in Cunene, Joaquim Silvestre launched the second phase of the Housing Project in Kashila wards, outskirts of Ondjiva, for the construction of 2220 social houses.

The official travelled to Namacunde and Ombadja districts, where he visited a project aimed to build 100 social houses in each locality.

In Ombadja, Joaquim Silvestre checked the construction works of Xangongo/Ondjiva water conduit and the land where 10 houses for local employees will be built.
