Kwanza Norte with 65 percent water coverage

Ndalatando – The secretary of State for Water, Luís Filipe da Silva, said Thursday in Ndalatando that the northern Kwanza Norte province is one of the county’s best served in terms of supply of drinking water, with a coverage reaching 65 percent.

The official was speaking at a meeting with municipal administrators to assess the ongoing  “Water for All” programme.

Luís Filipe da Silva said the mentioned coverage index places Kwanza Norte as a leading province about to reach 80 percent of the rural population and thus respond to the goals outlined under the national programme for 2012.

According to him, the goals outlined might be attained this year, thanks to the work of all parties involved.

However, the official said the despite the progress scored regarding the implementation of the “Water for All” programme in the province, a great investment is still required, especially for the expansion of the supply of water to the rural communities.

Luís Filipe also mentioned the need for expansion of the network of distribution to the outskirts of the capital city, Ndalatando, through the construction of more solid water abstraction and treatment systems.
