Central govt wants churches to contribute to development

Luanda – The national director for Religious Matters, Manuel Fernandes, on Sunday here said that the central government appreciates the social contribution of the churches and counts on their work of evangelisation.
 
 The official said so when sending a thanking message to the faithful of the First Born Universal Evangelic Church, during an ecumenical service, which he attended in response to an invitation sent to the Ministry of Culture.
 
“We want to count on you, we know you do relevant social actions, since you fight, among other things, against drugs and child abuse (…), this makes us believe in your work and gospel”, said Manuel Fernandes.
 
He also reminded that there are may churches in the country, but some of them “leave a lot to desire”, due to the messages they promote. 
 
“The government is considering, working seriously in these aspects relating to the uncontrolled appearance of churches, in due time the government will pronounce itself”, he stressed.
