Luanda
Social Communication Ministry repudiates Rádio Despertar rebellion incitement

Luanda– The Ministry of Social Communication (MCS) Monday in Luanda repudiated the stand adopted by “Rádio Despertar” of inciting the population to rebel against the legally established and democratically elected institutions of the State.

In a communiqué distributed in Luanda, the MCS considers that such stand violates the constitutionally consecrated principles of exercise of press freedom, putting at stake the national reconciliation process and consolidation of peace and social stability pursued by Angolan people.

Worried about the editorial policy adopted by “Rádio Despertar”, the MCS urges the National Communication Council (CNC) and other institutions tasked with ensuring the guarantee of the exercise of press freedom “to act accordingly, without damage to resorting to the judicial institutions of the country.”

In its communiqué, the MCS appeals to the media organs to offer a service of public interest, within the framework of social responsibility and of ethic-deontological rules, thus contributing to the consolidation of democracy and reinforcement of unity and national identity.
