Malabo- African countries were urged on Tuesday to adopt and use cyberhealth services defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO as a safe way and good cost-efficacy relation in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the health sector and as a contribution to reinforced and improved health system and products.
This was said by the WHO regional director for Africa, Luís Sambo.
According to him, cyberhealth services may contribute to strengthen the health systems, improve provision, quality and use of information and factual data with the reinforcement of the sanitary and public surveillance information systems, by developing professional skills and improving their performance.
Luís Sambo also point out some important cyberhealth services projects in the region, namely the telemedicine network for African French Speaking Countries, access to research initiative, the CyberPortuguese Project and the Pan African CyberNetwork Project.
Other countries use satellite technology to disseminate messages to promote patients and hospital and clinic professionals.
