US official praises demining in Bie province

 

Kuito - The program manager in the office of weapons and abatement in the US State Department, Darren Manning, on Tuesday considered positive the demining operations in Kunhinga municipality, central highland Bie province.


After visiting an area of 350 hectares being demining in Kunhinga municipality, mr Manning stated that the operation is contributing in the reduction of maimed people and landmine victims adding that the state department will continue to support the improvement of demining process in Bie province to boost the flow of people and goods in the region. 


Meanwhile the head of the Bie province demining commission, Andrade Adolfo, stressed that the government and partners are striving to demine the suspect areas, thus contributing for the local social and economic development.


Demining operations in Bie province are carried out by the british ngo The Hallo Trust, The National Demining Institute and the Demining Brigade of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
