Luanda – The advances made by Angola in terms of employment, social protection and business undertakings were recognised on Monday, in Luanda, by a senior official of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Tomás Vera Cruz.
The Sao Tomean Tomás Vera Cruz, spokesman of an ILO delegation to central Africa, who is currently in Angola, said so to the press moments after having an audience with the Angolan minister of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, António Pitra Neto.
According to the specialist, the Angolan government is making progress in the social sector, especially in the area of employment, social protection, social dialogue and business undertakings, in few years of peace.
“We are in Angola at the invitation of the government, where we are checking its reality, such as big advances in areas like employment, professional training and social protection, in few years of peace, and we are satisfied about that”, he emphasised.
Tomás Vera Cruz pointed out social security and social training as areas that have had a rapid growth and efficiency, as well as praised the commitment of the government to the implementation of a project in the sector of social security, aiming to modernise and extend this service countrywide.
In his opinion, the Angolan government has plainly demonstrated a will to increase and upgrade its human resources, to satisfy the demands of the employment market and decrease the level of employment in the country.
The ILO delegation, led by the sub-regional director for Central Africa, the Congolese Dayina Mayenga, will stay in the country until August 20.
