UNDP official defends demining for development

 

Luanda – The director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Angola, Gita Honwana Welch, defended Tuesday, in Luanda, the need to remove landmines in the affected areas in order to facilitate the implementation of the investment projects.


 
The official was speaking to the press on the sidelines of a Euros 400,000 donation, granted by the Italian ambassador to the National Demining Institute to support Angola in this area. 


 
The UNDP director for Angola said that it is important the Italian government support to Angola in the demining area since it will contribute to solve problems related to the country’s development.
