Hard work, dedication earned women promotion - Minister

Luanda – Women hard work and dedication in the various sectors has earned them promotion to higher positions in society and more respect.

This was said Friday in Luanda by the minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Cândida Teixeira.

Speaking to Angop, on the role of women in decision-making organs, the minister said that women have attained a substantial promotion, comparing their occupations in the past and those of these days.

According to her, in the colonial period, most of Angolan women were domestic workers, with few others being teachers or nurses.

"Nowadays, there are women with higher education (PhDs and post-PhDs) in various fields of knowledge, so this is a step that has no comparison”, said the minister.

However, the official spoke of the need for a twist from the preference for  social science fields to those of technological training.
