Angola
Government concerned about water shortage

Luanda - The Angolan minister of Energy and Water, Emanuela Viera Lopes, said Friday in Luanda that the shortage in water supply is among the major concerns of the Government.

The official said so at a ceremony of celebrations marking the World Water Day, March 22.

The minister said that despite the effort centred on the improving access to drinking water, Angola still has a huge number of its citizens who are deprived from this right, in acceptable quantity and quality, especially in rural areas.

The March 22 was established in 1992 as World Water Day by the United Nations, during which it also adapted the Universal Declaration on Water Rights."
