Luanda – The retired bishop of the United Methodist Church in Angola (IMUA), Emilio de Carvalho, Sunday in Luanda urged the faithful to exercise mutual help.
The bishop was speaking during a mass celebrating the Angolan Methodism day, March 18'.
According to him in celebrating the Angolan Methodism’s 125th anniversary, each member of the church should exercise love as taught by Jesus Christ.
The cleric urged believers to work and serve people not to get served, thus following the example set by Jesus.
As part of the celebrations of the date, IMUA is organising meetings and church services at the Western Conference that includes the provinces of the south and north, excepting Malanje, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Bie and Kuando-Kubango that are part of the East Conference.
Blood donation campaigns and visits to Cajueiro paediatric hospital are part of the programme.
The mass was attended by Government officials, MPs, diplomats, politicians and members of political parties and churches.
Methodism in Angola came about with the US bishop, William Taylor, who was at the head of a 45-missionary delegation.
