Luanda - An angolan delegation will attend the 5th World Urban Forum opening Monday,23, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the ministry of urbanism and construction announced today.
According to a press note sent to Angop, the meeting organized under the motto "The right to the city:Uniting urban divisions" will discuss the role of governments to ensure respect for the rights of the poor for being the majority of city dwellers.
Angola's participation in the Forum is important at a time when the government implements its national program of urban planning and housing which expcts the promotion of social housing to face the national home deficit.
The government housing program expects the building of one million homes by 2012 with the participation of the state and private sectors, public-private partnerships.
A ministerial round table will be addressed by minstrs and heads of delegations on subjects like differences in rents and inequalities in cities, human poverty, participatory democracy and sustainable urban development, access to housing, water, sanitation, infra-structures and services.
