Luanda– The bishop of Luena district diocese in eastern Moxico province, Dom Tirso Blanco, said Tuesday in Luanda, that the Catholic Church schools around the country cater for a total of 246.000 students at various levels, paying a special attention to primary schooling.
Speaking to members of the 6th Commission of the National Assembly, about the social works of the church, Dom Tirso Blanco said that the church’s schools cater for more than 100.000 primary students, 50.000 secondary and 54.000 in literacy programme.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of various dioceses, analysed issues related to education, state of social communication, proliferation of illegal churches, the state of Islam in the country and the family code.
The session was chaired by the acting speaker of the National Assembly, João Lourenço.
