Luanda – The leader of percussion group Celamar, Margarida Nkai, affirmed Wednesday in Luanda, that Angolan women have shown little interest in playing drums.
In an interview to Angop, speaking about “Women in culture”, Margarida Nkai revealed that it is due to the fact that some people think that art of playing drums is only for people of low income.
For the artist, active participation of people in this art will be a great contribution so that sequence to the culture is done, elevating the country on the continent.
Celamar percussion group is made up of twelve members, all female, that besides playing drum, also use other African instruments such as marimba and saxi.
