Tornado destroys over 60 homes in Kalai

Menongue, Feb 03 - Strong winds recently destroyed totally four houses and partially another 58 in Kalai, far southeastern Kuando Kubango province, the local information and documentation center (CDI) reported today.

 

According to the report one people was wounded and 288 were affected by the winds which partially damaged the offices of the local administration, the immigration police, the customs police, the civil defense and the evangelical congregational church.    

 

The tornado coincidently occurred during the visit of a team of the technical executive committee of the provincial commission of civil protection to assess the damages of the recent heavy rains in Kalai and Kuangar where 200 homes were also destroyed by the floods.
 

The civil protection team delivered a donation of assorted goods as tents, maize flour, rice and cooking oil.
