Angolans in Toronto organise charity dinner to help Haitians

Luanda – Angolans residing in Toronto, Canada, organised a dinner last weekend, to raise funds aimed at supporting victims of the earthquake that hit Haiti on 12 January  2010.


According to the organiser of the event, Yolanda Santos, the intention is to show the solidarity of Angolans with the people of Haiti, thus, helping to minimize some of their needs.


The event counted on the participation of Angolans and other residents of Toronto, who joined the dinner to show solidarity with the victims of the earthquake which affected about three million people, having caused the death of at least 200.000 people.


The organisers counted on the support of various institutions, among them World Vision, Red Cross Canada and the local government that promised to double the amount collected at the charity dinner.
