Luanda – The provincial chief of the National Police, Comm. Joquim Ribeiro, told the court that the identification of the policemen involved in the “Frescura” case was based on information supplied by criminal investigation specialists.
Speaking to the court on Thursday in Luanda, the police officer said he has had no intereference with the process that led to the public presentation of the accused, suspected killers of the eight youths in Sambizanga district last year.
The police chief, who had presented the accused at a press conference last year, stated that “the provincial commander was not the mentor of the crime”, adding that his involvement in the presentation of the suspects was due to the fact that he was the Luanda chief of the National Police.
Joaquim Ribeiro said as well he was not aware of the crime motivations, having added that the moment is not good for the National Police.
The killing of the eight boys occurred on July 23, at Frescura square, Mora Ward, Sambizanga district, allegedly by the police officers currently being tried.
