Information objectivity requires journalist?s responsibility - specialist

Luanda – Information objectivity requires strictness and responsibility on the part of the journalist in placing at the disposal of the public the information it needs to make a judgement.

This was said Friday in Luanda by journalist Albino Carlos, director general of the Journalists Training Centre (Cefojor).

Albino Carlos said so during a talk on “Information objectivity”, held in the framework of the 34th anniversary of the Angola Press Agency (Angop), October 30.

He sated that objectivity is about a major or minor ethic appropriateness of the journalistic practices, adding that the essence of developments, processes and situations mentioned should be understood as objective as possible.

The university lecturer said as well that information objectivity must reside in the narration of facts, stating that the journalists must abide by strictly gathering information as the purpose of its news rather than creating news facts.

The talk directed to Angop journalists, technicians, officials and interested people, was also attended by members of the agency’s managing board, with stress to the director general, Information director, Luísa Damião and others.

The Angola Press Agency (Angop) is a public company of great dimension, endowed with juridical status and administrative, financial and patrimonial  autonomy.

ANGOP was established in Luanda in July 1975, having its first dispatch been released on October 30 the same year.

It has as its task to gather, process and distribute news items locally and abroad, based on an objective reporting on national and international reality.
