Luanda, – Principals and vice principals of the six new public universities, recently created by the government, were on Monday here sworn in during a ceremony presided over by the prime minister, António Paulo Kassoma.
Viriato Gaspar Gonçalves was sworn in as the principal of Mandume Ya Ndemofaya university, based in Huíla and comprising the provinces of Namibe, Cunene and Kuando Kubango, whilst Abraão Mulangi was the vice principal for the academic division, and Alberto
Raimundo Watchilambi Wapota, as the pro-rector for cooperation.
Samuel Carlos Victorino took the post of principal of Lueji A'Nkonde university, with its headquarters in Lunda Norte and comprising the provinces of Malanje and Lunda Sul, whilst Gilberto Caimbo Nhongola and Alfredo Armando António are the vice principals for the
academic and scientific divisions, and Carlos Pedro Cláver Yoba is the pró-rector for cooperation.
Kianvu Tamo was sworn in as the principal of “11 de Novembro” university with headquarters in Cabinda and covers Zaire province. He is assisted by the vice principals for the academic and scientific divisions, Luzayadio André and Alfredo Gabriel Buza, respectively, as well as José Manuel Sita Gomes as the pro-rector for cooperation.
Paulo Horácio de Sequeira e Carvalho took office as the principal of Katyavala Buila university, based in Benguela and covers Kuanza Sul province. Manuel Francisco Bandeira and Afonso Dala Coxi Fula were respectively sworn in as the vice principals for the academic
and scientific departments. Ermelinda Monteiro da Silva Cardoso is the pró-rector for cooperation.
Carlos Diakanamwa was sworn in as the principal of Kimpa Vita university, with headquarters in Uíge and including the province of Kwanza Norte. Sany Kambol Cipriano and Heitor Manuel Timóteo were respectively sworn in as the vice principals for the academic and
scienfitic departments. Mbunga Nzinga David assumed the post of pró-rector for cooperation.
The prime minister also swore in Cristóvão de Carvalho e Ferreira Simões as the principal of “José Eduardo dos Santos” university, with headquarters in Huambo and covering the provinces of Bié and Moxico.
Mário José da Costa Rodrigues, António Bartolomeu Alicerces Chivinga Eduardo and Armindo Gideão Kunjiquisse Jelembi were respectively sworn in as the vice principals for the academic and scientific departments and pro-rector for cooperation.
The sworn in education officials swore fidelity to the nation and to cooperation for the implementation of objectives of the state, during a ceremony that was attended by the minister of Territory Administration, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, the secretary of state for higher
education, Adão de Almeida, as well as provincial governors or their representatives.
The decree 7/09 of May 12, of the cabinet council, calls for the re-organisation of the network of public higher education institutions, the creation of new higher education facilities and restructuring of the state-run Agostinho Neto University.
Premier Paulo Kassoma congratulated the sworn in entities for having accepted the challenge of contributing to the sustainable development of Angola, fulfilling the mission of managing and expanding the six new public universities.
