Luanda
Increase of unionised women's nucleus recommended

Luanda - Participants to the national meeting of the national committee of unionised women recommended the urgent need to increase unionised women in companies, so as to reach equal rights and opportunities.

They also said that equal rights and opportunities is the biggest desire of unionised women, and is a priority of the Action Programme of the National Union of Angolan Unionised Workers (Unta-CS).

The women also stressed the need to boost the holding of awareness campaigns for women workers, increase programmes to explain about the union movement and its importance, more active participation in plenary meetings, workshops and talks, among other meetings.

Fernanda Bião, member of women's network, said that the meeting was fruitful because participants were capable of outlining strategies that will be submitted to the congress of the Unta, set for October 01-03, 2009.

Matters relating to the increase of women in decision-making organs and in trade unions topped the meeting's agenda.
