Over 11,000 children to get vaccinated against polio


Ondjiva- At least 11,930 children from zero to five years of age will be immunised against poliomyelitis, during the second phase of the campaign
dubbed “Live Life with Heath”, in Cuvelai District, Cunene Province.

 


According to the supervisor of the Wide Vaccination Programme (PAV) of the district, Tibério José, during the campaign, that will run from 14 to 28 June, 20,877 children from six months old to five years of age will receive vaccine against measles.

 


The campaign also includes the administration of vitamin A and Albendazole in order to combat worms.

 


Tibério José reported that the campaign takes place within the four communes of Cuvelai and it is to be ensured by 13 vaccination teams, located in fixed places.

 


In Cunene the work of immunisation was opened by the local governor, António Didalelwa, and it is predicted the vaccination of 167,325 children from zero to five years of old, against polio and measles.
