Luanda governor suggests recruitment of social workers for hospitals


Luanda– The governor of Luanda province, Francisca do Espírito Santo, Monday here suggested that "the social workers should be included in the health units, as they can give a valuable contribution to the recovery of the patients’’.

 


Speaking to employees of Luanda General Hospital, in Kilamba Kiaxi district, after the inauguration of the Client Support Service at the hospital, the governor said that there has been proposed to the Ministry of Health and Physicians Order for the recruiting of psychologists and sociologists to work in the health units.

 


The recruitment of the professionals in these areas of Social Sciences, she explained, aims at improving the quality of public health services delivered to the population.

 


"We are here to unveil a new service, that is the Client Support Office, so that in the democratic exercise, we can obtain from the clients of this hospital their opinions on how they have been treated, the quality of service, our failures and the positive references that can be done to the employees", she said.

 


Francisca do Espírito Santo expressed satisfaction for noticing that the newly-inaugurated office has the service of clinical psychologist.

 


"It is the profile that we need for a work of this kind, because it is proved that apart from clinic medical attendance, there is also the need, in many cases, of psychological assistance to the sick person", she said.

 


The governor of Luanda reminded that the country has been registering abnormal situations and of extreme violence, thus it is opportune to make these approaches and verify that the social worker is a useful staff in the health institutions.

 


The Client Support Service will receive complaints and suggestions from the patients and others, with the objective to improve its service and detect the critical points of the institution.
