Luanda - The deputy minister of Health, Evelize Frestas, announced Monday that the sector is developing eight projects involving the mass distribution of medicines at
the community level, linked to parasite cleansing with albendazole.
The official stated this during a meeting with the Director of the African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control, Paul-Samson Lusamba Dikassa.
She stressed that the projects will be implemented in the high density provinces, such as the provinces of Bengo, Huila, Kuando Kubango, Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul, Moxico and
Uige.
According to Evelize Frestas, the ministry is ending a strategic plan to combat neglected diseases and it will be implemented in 2013.
The project will count on USD 2 million international support to boost the programme.
