Cabinda - Seventy-three HIV-positive women gave birth to healthy babies in northern Cabinda province since the early 2012, under the Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission Programme, Angop has learnt.

According to the provincial secretary of Health, Carlos Zeca, 44 other HIV-positive pregnant women are being monitored under the above programme across the province.
 

Currently, the local "Povo Grande" health centre, one of the units dedicated to the care of cases of AIDS and HIV patients, controls three thousand cases.

The Hospital of Chinga controls 384, against 36 of the municipal hospital of Cacongo.
 

So far 36 patients died of disease, of whom 20 women and 16 men.
 

The official said that in 2008 some 20,331 HIV/AIDS tests were carried out, of which 1648 positive. In 2009 30, 945 and 1564 positives. In 2010 (38 177) 1388, 2011 (55,709)  with 1536 positive. By April 2012 the prvince conducted 12 071 tests 362 positive.
