Herbal medicine exhibition opens regional forum on traditional medicine

Luena - More than 400 medicinal plants, root samples and other products are displayed to the public in Luena city, eastern Moxico province ahead of the opening of the Regional Forum on national policy on traditional medicine and complementary practices.

 
The event gathers  48 exhibitors from the provinces of  Moxico, Lunda Sul and Lunda Norte, who are displaying the products, with distress to traditional plants from local Tchokwe and Luvale origin.


They include herbal medicine to relive stomach aches, malaria and typhoid fever, gonorrhoea, cough, while other herbs are used to treat patients suffering from epilepsies.


Attending the meeting senior officials of Presidency of Republic, minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, secretaries of State and vice ministers from various Ministries.


Staff from the sectors of Health, Culture, Environment, Education, Media, Justice, traditional midwives, herbalists, researchers, therapists among others, also attended the event.
