Governor highlights advances in health sector

Ndalatando - The governor of the northern Kwanza Norte province, Henrique Andre Junior stressed the progress in the province in health sector coupled with the implementation of integrated municipal programme of development and combat poverty since 2006.

 

Assessing the sector's activities, the governor mentioned the construction of the new health infrastructures in the region, which raised the number to 122 units in operation and 884 hospital beds available.

 

The official told Angop that the figure represents an increase of about 43 new units and 482 beds in relation to 2006, corresponding to a growth of about 54 and 120 percent respectively.

 

Henrique André Júnior also said that there was a decline in relation to notifiable diseases, with stress to malaria.

 

He noted that the disease decreased from  270,322 cases in 2006 to 72,488, in 2011.
